Manage Permissions

Currently, there are three permission groups in a Team:

  • Owner - max of 100 per Team.
  • Member and Guest - max of 5000 per Team.
  • Guests are users external to KU.

Permissions apply to the whole Team and cannot be customized for individual channels.

Notifications are alerts that there is activity or someone has mentioned you in the feed. There are a few ways that notifications work in Teams and you have options to customize what you will receive and how.

By default, you will only receive a notification when:

  • Someone mentions you in a post
  • Mentions the whole team
  • You choose to follow a channel for all updates.

Set Notification Preferences

From Settings, you can change email, banner, and feed preferences :

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a messaging platform for your group, team, or department. It provides a workspace for real-time collaboration and communication, meetings, files and app sharing, and even the occasional animated gif! All in one place, all in the open, all accessible to everyone.

Accessing Teams

There are a few ways you can access a Team.

Install Microsoft Teams on your computer

  •  To download the desktop app, open the online version of Teams and click on the download icon located in the bottom-left of the screen. [see screenshot]
  • Download the Teams app on your phone or tablet from the App Store or Google Play.

Multifunction Device (MFD) Instructions for Departments

The following instructions are also available in a printable PDF handout.

Your tech support staff should have set up your ability to print to your local MFD. Talk with your department's IT support staff if you are having issues printing.
