Adobe Express


Overview

Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) Express (formerly Spark) is a free online and mobile graphic design app used to create images, videos and web pages. It is great for tool to create multimedia to be shared on social media. There are three facets of Adobe Express: Page, Post, and Video.

Sign-in to Adobe Express

PC or Mac Sign in

Adobe Express Post, Page, and Video are all available on PC or Mac using the browser of your choice.

  1. Log in to Adobe Express using your computer and favorite browser.
  2. Select Log in.
  3. Choose Log in with school account.
  4. Enter your KU online ID followed by @ku.edu (ImaJayhawk@ku.edu).
  5. Click or tab into the password field. (Note: You will not enter your password at this stage.)
  6. When redirected, choose Enterprise ID.
  7. At the KU log in screen, enter your KU Online ID and password.

Sign-in Mobile

  1. Open the App store/Play store on your device.
  2. Search for and install the Adobe Express apps (Note: Adobe Express Post is available on both Android and iOS. Adobe Express Page and Adobe ExpressVideo are only available for iOS.)
  3. Open the Adobe Express app.
  4. Select an option for notifications if prompted.
  5. Select Log in next to Have an Adobe ID or Education account.
  6. Choose Sign in with an Enterprise ID.
  7. Enter your KU online ID followed by @ku.edu (ImaJayhawk@ku.edu).
  8. Click or tab into the password field. (Note: You will not enter your password at this stage.)
  9. When redirected, choose Enterprise ID if prompted.
  10. At the KU log in screen, enter your KU Online ID and password.

Adobe Express Page

Adobe Express Pages help you craft stories for the web. You can use it for online albums, newsletters, reports or anything else for which you want to create a visual representation. 

Create Adobe Express Page

You can create a Adobe Express Page through a browser or on your iOS device using a template or starting from scratch.

  1. Log in to Adobe Express using your computer and favorite browser. (Need help signing in? See instructions at the bottom of this web page.)
  2. Select the + sign.
  3. Choose to start from a template or from scratch.
  4. Add a Title and subtitle.
  5. Add additional content or change the layout by clicking the + sign under each section. You can add photos, embed YouTube videos, create buttons and more!
  6. Explore different themes by selecting the Themes button from a browser or the Wand icon on your iOS device.
  7. Preview your page by selecting the Preview button from a browser or the Play button on your iOS device.

Share Page

Pages are shared by generating a public view-only sharable link. Select the Share button to get started. You can add author and title information, choose a category and view/edit the photo credits.  You can update your Adobe Express page without changing the link, but be sure to republish your page. Tip: Using a computer and the Chrome browser you can also print your page!

Page: Create Branded Content

KU faculty, staff and students have access to premium Adobe Express features which means you can add your brand to each post, video or page you create! Brand information can include multiple logos, fonts and colors that you upload or specify. To start branding your media:

  1. Log in to Adobe Express using your computer and favorite browser.
  2. Select Manage Brand
  3. Choose one of the icons on the left to start adding logos, colors and fonts.

How to Make a Web Story with Adobe Express (video)

Keep in Mind

  • Content created in Adobe Express is tied to an individual's account. This makes it hard to co-author content as a department or team. Content can be downloaded and shared, but not edited by multiple individuals.
  • You can only create Adobe Express Pages from a computer and browser or using an iOS device.
  • You can create pages by selecting a template or starting from scratch.
  • Only videos from YouTube can be embedded into pages.
  • There's no way to rearrange content on a page once you've added it. Make sure to plan ahead with your page design.
  • Adobe Express Page is a great option for a one-page newsletter, announcement or presentation. However, it does not support a multi-page structure. You can link to other pages or sites using a URL, but if a multi-page website is needed, the best option is to use the CMS. You can find more information about using the CMS on the KU's CMS Guide
  • It’s possible to add icons, pictures, and/or text to any post, page or video. You can either upload your own images or use content from the Creative Commons. Only photos that are available for use under a Creative Commons license will be displayed; with use of these images, a credits screen and citation of photo sources will automatically be added at the end of the presentation.

Adobe Express Post

You can create a Adobe Express Post through a browser or on your mobile device using a template or starting from scratch.

  1. Log in to Adobe Express from your favorite browser or open the Adobe Express Page app from your mobile device. (Need help signing in? See instructions at the bottom of this web page.)
  2. Select the + sign.
  3. Choose to start from a template or from scratch.
  4. Select a size of graphic to create or enter custom dimensions.
  5. Choose a solid color, photo or pattern to add to your post.
  6. Add additional content by clicking the + sign. You can add text, photos, icons and logos.
  7. Explore different variations of your graphic by selecting the Design button. Additionally, you can change the layoutcolors or resize your graphic using the respective buttons.
  8. From a mobile device only, you can add subtle animation effects to your graphic by selecting the Effects button.

Share Post

Posts are can be shared through a number of social media sites, email or saved to your mobile device. Select the Share button to get started.

Adobe Express Video

Adobe Express Video editor lets you create animated videos with voiceover. You can import your video files or images to create promotional videos, video assignments, visual portfolios, etc.

  • Videos are created by adding multiple slides to play content together.
  • Adobe Express Video does not have advanced video editing tools such as adjusting the clip speed.
  • You can use videos created from your phone or using any MP4 file.
  • Themes in Adobe Express Video determine font, color, and transitions. Colors can be remixed and music can be changed, but transitions and fonts can not be edited.
  • You can add audio directly into each slide.
  • You can use the music library from Adobe available through Adobe Express.
  • It’s possible to add icons, pictures, and/or text to any post, page or video. You can either upload your own images or use content from the Creative Commons. Only photos that are available for use under a Creative Commons license will be displayed; with use of these images, a credits screen and citation of photo sources will automatically be added at the end of the presentation.
